'Alexanders' button brooch

£28.00

Made using free motion embroidery, collaged fabric and hand stitching, this little brooch is inspired by the many umbellifer flowers that spring up in the verges and gardens around the lanes in our patch of Suffolk.

Alexanders (Smyrnium olusatrum) or Horse Parsley, are a member of the carrot family and so related to many food crops that we love to eat including obviously the carrot, parsnip and celeriac (as well as many other well known cultivated and wild plants). Alexanders as their name suggests are long term immigrants in this country, an import by the Romans, brought from its original homeland by the Mediterranean.

These little circles measure 38mm in diameter and look perfect on anything, even a bag!

Hope you love it?
